What does it feel like to give up solid food for a few days? And what effects does it have on body and mind? You can get an idea from Lori‘s blog about her experiences during her own Wellness Week.

Biotta’s Wellness Week really improved my health and state of mind

I remember always seeing their juices in the grocery store or pharmacy aisle but never thought in a million years you would be able to do a complete week of just drinking juice. I wouldn’t say I’m an unhealthy person, but in this day and age, when many of the foods we eat are processed and the body is continually bombarded with chemicals and toxins from our daily life, I though it wouldn’t hurt to try a juice fast. I’ll admit I was sceptical about this week-long organic diet because of how irritable I felt. Perhaps my body was fighting the urge to give up unhealthy food options – which turned out to be just what I needed to distance myself from.

My Week

Day one would have to be the biggest hurdle. Just imagining not eating any solids, I could feel my body rejecting the idea. But as they say, the harder the battle, the sweeter the victory. For breakfast I drank a tall glass of Biotta Wellness, which has become my favourite drink along with Biotta Vita 7. They are not only extremely tasty but also jam-packed with essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Did you know that one study found that supplementing with mixed fruit and vegetable juice improved participants’ nutrient levels of beta carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium and folate? Furthermore, a review of 22 studies found that drinking juice made from fresh fruits and vegetables or blended powder concentrate improved folate and antioxidant levels, including beta carotene, vitamin C and vitamin E.

Just knowing this alone really motivated me to continue and finish the week. As health is the true wealth.

My midday meal was Biotta Tomato, which I made as a soup, as I found it sustained and satisfied me more than drinking it as an aperitif. And this tomato soup is not your ordinary one but made with sun-ripened tomatoes from Italy with no artificial additives, sugar or added minerals. These details are what really separates Biotta from the rest.

After breakfast and lunch I found myself having a strong urge for solid foods. What helped me greatly through these cravings would be drinking large glasses of water while sipping on the herbal tea until dinner time arrived.

Dinner would be a bowl of the Biotta Vegetable Garden soup mixed with some flaxseeds. In order to switch things up I rotated sometimes with the Biotta Tomato.

After the second and third day I felt my body adjusting to the diet and looked forward to drinking my daily supplement of juice. It was like night and day: my mood changed for the better and I felt more alert and attentive to daily tasks. My discomfort was gone and I experienced overall health benefits.

At the end of the week I noticed how I had lost weight and boosted my confidence and my health. I would suggest this week-long juice diet to anyone. It’s not a sacrifice, it’s an investment. My Wellness Week turned me from a sceptic into a convert!
